NOAA’s forecast has it dropping to about 114 cfs by tomorrow morning and ~96 cfs by Tuesday, so the next couple of mornings are the ones to fish before it thins out. Fishing Lower Weber River: what to know

The Lower Weber runs from Echo Reservoir down through Henefer, Morgan, and Weber Canyon to Ogden — a brown trout river with big whitefish, following I-84 with public access at the Henefer and Croydon bridges, the Taggart and Weber Canyon pull-offs, and the Riverdale stretch in town. It's a productive, underrated river 30–40 minutes from Salt Lake.

Winter flows are low and clear and the midge fishing is good on warm days. Runoff arrives in April and May; the river clears by late June and fishes through October, with a strong caddis summer and browns on streamers in the fall. Irrigation draws it down and warms it in late summer — watch the temperature on this page.

Nymphing caddis larvae, pheasant tails, and sowbugs through the riffles; caddis dries in the evening; streamers for the browns in fall. Whitefish stack in the tailouts in November and eat small nymphs. Statewide trout limits apply; some access is across private land, so use the marked public spots.

Best time to fish Lower Weber River

The DWR has stocked Lower Weber River 20 times over the last 5 seasons, and 75% of those plants landed in May through July — the freshest fish and the easiest bite usually follow within a week or two of a stocking. Flows typically peak in May (about 1,092 cfs median) and settle to their lowest in December (about 133 cfs) — the wadeable, clear-water window usually opens once flows drop below the seasonal median, and the 72-hour chart above shows where today sits against it.
